On October 5, The World Can’t Wait organization has planned a “national day of mass resistance” in downtown Los Angeles. Their motto is “The world can’t wait—drive out the Bush Regime,” and they hope to accomplish just that, kicking off its impeachment campaign two weeks ago at over 50 locations across the nation. The Los Angeles chapter met in a church basement in Koreatown, with the speakers list including Jesse Diaz, co-founder of the L.A. chapter of the March 25th coalition for illegal immigrants rights, who organized the march of one million protestors that flooded the streets of L.A. this past spring.

Diaz is hoping for similar results with this protest/rally, and told Thursday’s attendees that many illegal immigrants he talks with—those who are in line to gain voting status—support impeaching the Bush administration, and many will join this event. (The same day in Washington D.C., The World Can’t Wait plans to wrap the perimeter of the White House in yellow crime scene tape.)

The group will meet at noon in Pershing Square, beginning the Bush Crimes Tour at 3 p.m. The protest route ends up at the Federal Building in downtown L.A. at 5 p.m. for a mass rally. (Tommy Purvis)
