Some may swear that Riverside begins and ends at the Tyler Mall, but apparently our general readers are pretty damned sure that there’s way more to the city than that. Enter the University of California Riverside’s Botanic Gardens. Preserved on 40 acres of property is a getaway that makes for the perfect romp to remind oneself that nature really does exist outside the strip mall and freeway sprawl that can often define the Inland Empire. An abundance of all things natural and beautiful (like thousands of species of plant life), this Box Springs site includes four miles of trails that’ll encourage indoorsmen to peruse and, best of all, explore.
