Forget American Idol. Yeah, America’s got talent—and it’s right in our own backyard. As the 5th Annual Inland Empire Music Awards take over the Riverside Municipal Auditorium, the season’s most anticipated music happening will zero in on the region’s hottest talent and launch the careers of tomorrow’s biggest stars. Whether this is your first tango with the IEMA or not, the performances by Riverside ska legends The Skeletones, nominees Big Papa and the TCB and Hemet heavy heroes Worldfast (last year’s Hard Rock award winner) will have you jumping out of your seat, cheering for more. With the live shows, an energetic crowd and drinks a-flowin‘—the IEMAs may very well bring down Riverside’s historical venue. With over 100 submissions and 25 categories including Best Live Band to Best Hip Hop, the night is ready to pump out some big winners, keeping it real, keeping it local! In IEMA tradition, some of these artists will end up signed by a variety of record labels and going on to bigger and better things—Simon Cowell, who needs ya!—while still remembering their catapult to fame during this show. This year the IEMAs will include a panel that will allow bands to meet and greet with industry professionals including promoters, agents and industry executives. Don’t bother with any other talent competitions, the IEMAs will rock your socks off and have the final word on why the IE music scene is alive and well. Feeling that excitement yet? If you aren’t, it is time, my child, it is time.
