Yeah, you generally don’t want to mix alcohol and motorized vehicles, but the safest way you can combine a love for classic cars and a bit of nectar from the vineyards of the gods is to hit up this weekend’s third annual Wine & Cars Under the Stars event at the Pomona Fairplex. Drop a C-note for this event, check out the fancy wheels and hot rods and make yourself one of the first to sample the winners of the 2009 Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition, which will be announced during this gala of all things grape (Judges tasted around 3,789 wines alone to whittle it down to the top vote-getters!). No Two Buck Chuck here. Plus, proceeds go to support the Foundations at Fairplex’s nonprofit community programs, such as the Child Development Center, the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts and the Fairplex Education Foundation. There’ll be a silent auction featuring everything from some Alice White wine valued at $25, and all the way to a custom-built Fender Stratocaster priced at $7,500(!) Want a little Zin with your zoom? Then this vintage vehicle for vim and vigor will definitely elevate your spirits.
