To riff off of psychedelic rock’s high prophet, Jimi Hendrix, there’ll be purple haze all in your brain if you are one of the horticultural hotshots who decides to get a head change by attending this Saturday’s Purple Haze Music Fest. Billing itself as “California’s largest pro-marijuana music festival,” expect nothing but a hemp-friendly, all-killer, no-filler lineup spanning reggae goodness, such as the ganja-reverent sing-jay stylings of headliner Eek-A-Mouse and Bob Marley tribute act One Drop Redemption, to the indie alt-hop vein, such as Awol One of the Shapeshifters and Sole of Anticon. During what will amount to a day-long sess‘, be sure to catch the positive vibe, Sublime-flavored reggae-rock of Riverside-based Inhale, the Stoney Curtis Band, Better Chemistry and Peter Puffington. And just to show you this fest isn’t all fun and games, IE medical cannabis advocates such as Bruce Margolin and Lanny Swerdlow are some of the fest’s scheduled speakers who will be on hand to handle the freedom and civil rights soapboxes. Top ganja girl Miss High Times will be co-hosting the event, so grab your best buds (we’re talking friends here) and see you in San Burn-adino.
