Conspiracy of Thought

Posted September 10, 2009 in Feature Story

ZIP CODE: Riverside, Norco.

BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK: In 2004, the already-active Conspiracy of Thought (which includes vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Ben Stewart and bassist Michael Parshall) merged with another band (Colourblind Society) to come up with their current line up that features Tony Vazquez (drums/electronic percussion/sequencing) and Devanand Bassanoo (lead guitar/keyboards/backing vocals)

FOR FANS OF: System of a Down, alternative/industrial, “Nine Inch Nails meets Korn meets U2.”
LATEST SPINS: Latest album Nothing More Than Light.
ON THE STAGE: Vans Warped Tour, ’09 Cornerstone Festival, a Sept. 11 show is scheduled for The Vault in Temecula.

THEIR TWO CENTS: “Dark Industrialized Soul Music!” is how Stewart describes the band. “COT’s music is melodic but aggressive, funky and emotive. We are a purpose-driven band, bent on changing the world around us.”

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE: This band’s rock cred is unquestionable, having won “Best Alternative Rock” this year, “Best Hard Rock” in ’07 and “Best Live Band” in ’06—all for the Inland Empire Music Awards. Music Connection mag named them one of the “Hot 100 Unsigned Bands” two years in a row. COT has performed with Anberlin, former Korn axe-man Brian “Head” Welch and Family Force 5; and opened for Bad Religion (nice!) and (hed) p.e.

THE IE’S LOCAL MUSIC SCENE ROCKS BECAUSE: “There are so many wonderful, talented, and emotive musicians here.”
