Louie Anderson

You’d have lots of funny stories too if your drunk dad fathered 11 kids, but I bet you couldn’t deliver them like funny man Louie Anderson. The TV star, named “One of the 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time” by Comedy Central, will prove my point on Thursday when he appears at the San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino for a 21+ stand-up performance. Though people got an early taste of Anderson in the Eddie Murphy hit Coming to America, the Minnesota native broke big with his Fox animated hit Life with Louie in the ’90s. The show won two Emmy statues, and Anderson went on to star in CBS’ The Louie Show and host the third Family Feud revival. Though he continues to make guest appearances on the small screen, Anderson now focuses on his stand-up career with a regular gig at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas (where tickets start at $54). His comedy routines have been so successful that he’s landed comedy specials on both HBO and Showtime, but you can see him up close and in-person as he spills his family secrets at San Manuel. If nothing else, he’ll cheer you up if you take a nosedive on the craps tables.

Louie Anderson at the San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino, 777 San Manuel Blvd., Highland, (800) 359-2464, www.sanmanuel.com, Thurs, Sept 3. Doors open 6:30PM. $20-$30.
