For those who grew up prior to the post-punk ’80s artistry of bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees or Love and Rockets, the electronic sparkle of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is one of the most memorable bands of the decade. Not just because frontwoman Karen O has enough bangs and eye make up to give her predecessors a run for their money, but because she and band mates Nick Zinner and Brian Chase have taken the word power trio to a new level. Whether you find yourself thrashing wildly to their 2003 debut album, Fever to Tell, or the latest synth-laden assaults from the newly-released It’s Blitz, the raw sexuality and power of their sound is magnetic. Since their formation in New York back in 2000, YYY continue to usher new fans into their dynamic world of brash, colorful pop layers that seem to grow even brighter and bolder with age. The band charges into the newly renovated Fox Theater for what has already been declared a sold-out show. Sorry, latecomers. Supported by electro-pop duo Yacht, the night promises major swells of glittery post-punk power of the highest degree. Be warned, heads will roll.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs perform with Yacht at The Fox Theater, 301 S. Garey Ave. Pomona, www.foxpomona.com, www.yeahyeahyeahs.com. Tues, Sept 15. 9PM. $30. All ages.
