Remember the ol‘ Lazerium days? Back when you could drive over to the Griffith Observatory, get a head change and then catch a mind-melting laser show to Dark Side of the Moon—all in public and from the comfort of auditorium-style seating? Psychedelic visuals and classic rock—now that’s a night out on the town! Well, prepare to put another brick in the wall when “The Pink Floyd Experience” debuts today at the California Theatre of the Performing Arts in San Bernardino. It’s a one-show only affair so you bet your blotter, there’ll be a mad rush to catch this audio-visual extravaganza in full quadraphonic and pupil-dilating glory. But what makes this show so much better than the ol’ Lazerium days is you get a full six-man band backing up the laser spectacle—no taped “Comfortably Numb” here. Plus, to up the long strange trip it’s going to be, organizers are adding a pig, and by that we mean a giant, inflatable version of the barnyard denizen that was a staple of Floyd shows back in the day. The pig from the ’08 Coachella Festival (Roger Waters was a headliner then) took flight but we figure the only thing headed into the atmosphere for this show will be your brainwaves.
