Phil Pirrone just isn’t gonna let Casket Salesmen die. At least not on his watch. Pirrone—the mastermind and organizer behind the annual Longhair Illuminati Festival—recently reformed his power trio (featuring OG drummer Ryan Knights and newbie JohnPaul Trotter on the axe) and is busy working on new material for a follow-up to the last CS album, ’06’s Sleeping Giants. But you’ve gotta let folks know that you’re back on the block and with a vengeance so the band is returning to their home turf (that’s Chino Hills to you lunkheads) to show off their new licks at Shamrock’s. After this gig, it’s back into a dark, mysterious studio to bust out a new EP that’s tentatively scheduled to be released online in early spring. If you’re a hippie freak, you’ll also be able to catch the band at this year’s Burning Man fest in Nevada—but why bother when this show in the 909 is popping this weekend? Want another reason to catch this concert? It’s a way to make up for the sorry fact that you missed Casket Salesmen’s residency at The Press this past December. We promise not to tell anyone you missed these gigs. See you at the merch table!
