King of the Hill

Posted February 25, 2010 in

Confident that it’ll live up to its motto of “All Ages, All Day, All Good,” the powder-logged crew behind this year’s King of the Hill Celebrity BoarderXcross V have perfected yet another icy cocktail of live music, celebrity hijinx and snow-shredding action on the slopes that will prove hotter than the Swedish downhill ski team (and they are hot). Everyone’s favorite ska miscreants, The Skeletones, will be manning the stage duties and prompting some heavy-duty skanking, with plenty of help from dub-punk unit Warsaw Poland Bros and Big Papa and the TCB. Chemistry LA will be providing the club-tastic vibe by turning part of Mt. High into a Euro-flavored dancefloor. Celebrities who will be competing in the downhill intermediate snow course include Joey Greco (the host of TV’s Cheaters) and pro MMA fighters like Travis Thompson, Mike Frison and Taryn Roberts–you’ve heard of femme fatale, right?—as well as OC Kick Boxing & MMA. Snow will spray, fists may fly (bunny slopes, these ain’t) and the afterparty back at the lodge will be pretty memorable (and likely result in a flooded Jacuzzi or two). The prizes are pretty sweet—Tyran Custom Snowboards and Mt. High season passes for 2010-2011—but we think you’ll be filling your victory cup with the sweet juice of bragging rights.

King of the Hill Celebrity BoarderXcross V at Mountain High Resort, 24510 State Highway 2, Wrightwood, (888) 754-7878;,, Sat, Feb. 27. Registration ($25 fee) 7AM, Boarder Cross 9AM. Free to attend. All ages.
