Scary Kids Scaring Kids

Spazz-core band Scary Kids Scaring Kids broke up last year . . .  but their farewell tour hits up The Glass House this Friday? Weird. Well, not weird if you understand that this Arizona-reared band is all over the map and does things the way it wants to. From taking on the evil forces of KFC with their “I Am Not a Nugget” campaign—which won the band major cool points from PETA—to swiping the sextet’s left-of-center name from a song by short-lived emo band Cap’n Jazz, SKSK does whatever the hell it wants while always taking time to show the Warped Tour and moshpit kids some love on tour. But being masters of their own domain means this band is also the ultimate factor in carving out its’ own fate; which it did last November when keyboardist Pouyan Afkary announced the band’s break-up on his blog, saying, “We’d rather remember the great time we’ve had together and move forward knowing we tried out best and had more good times than bad.” Sigh. Why do farewell tours hurt so much? Get your last dose of scares in Pomona.
