For some, it’s all about the vino. For others, your tried-and-true brewskie is considered High Art. Though in this case, potbellied guys in grimy Tees might reconsider their mindset if they’re hoping to get their barley pop on at this Saturday’s 2nd Annual Microbrew Festival at Pechanga—after all, these are the carefully concocted products of the world’s finest craft breweries. Imbibers of tall boys need not apply. Among the distinguished purveyors of the artful marriage of yeast and hops will be Bayhawk Ales, Eel River Brewing Company, Eurobrew, Howe Sound Brewing Company and Stone Brewing Co. And just so you don’t think this fest is only showcasing snooty outsiders, Redlands-based Hangar 24 Brewery will also be making a cameo appearance at this year’s sudsapalooza. Adding to the sophistication, Pechanga’s restaurants will be entrusted with providing sustenance to the hungry patrons and there’ll be a chili cook-off competition. Beer and chili—it’s what’s for dinner. But you need music, right? Aunt Kizzy’z Boys are scheduled to provide a backdrop of blues, rock and soul to all glass emptiers in attendance. Get schooled on whether to use a goblet, mug or a weizen glass, snicker at the tasteless macrobrews peddled at BevMo (sorry, Coors) and count yourself among the ale enlightened this weekend.
