Break Festival

Posted July 15, 2010 in

It’ll all be under one roof: Breakdancing. Emceeing. Freestyle. Beats. This year’s Break Festival will pit dance crew against dance crew as competitors vie for a not-to-be-sneezed-at $2,000 grand prize. Call it So You Think You Can Breakdance? as contestants will be judged by a rogues’ gallery of breakdancing Jedi masters like Boogie Frantick, Asia One and Iron Monkey. Plus, ya gotta have beats so the turntable theatrics will be handled by the likes of DJs Abel (Circle Kings), Mark Luv (Zulu Nation), Lu-Man (Bar None) and Renato (Supercuts). But the icing on this hip-hop cake will be the lyrical tongue-twisting pitched to festival goers courtesy of Intuition and VerBs as well as MC Supernatural—an absolute legend in the freestyle circuit. Supe’s literally one for the record books as his 2006 performance at the Rock the Bells fest in San Berdoo included a nine-hour-plus nonstop freestyle slamma jamma that landed him an esteemed place in the Guinness World Records. Hear it and believe it.
