Providing further proof to the Prop. 19 naysayers that herb is king, the psycho-mellow gents that make up Kottonmouth Kings have decided to hotbox the NOS Events Center Saturday for an all-day celebration of suburban noise and a hefty dose of that kick-back, SoCal vibe. Oh, and Brad X and Co. won’t be alone in making SRH Fest 2010 the summer event to glorify extreme lifestyles . . . and extreme lungs. Check this: Obviously, the Kings will smash things up with their spare-no-decibel brand of punk-hop. The group didn’t call their last album Long Live the Kings for nothing, ya know. The Dirty Heads will also be co-conspirators for this fest, and the band is slated to perform their smash track “Lay Me Down” with Rome of Sublime with Rome. Bradley, R.I.P. Stalwart punkers Unwritten Law, funk-core miscreants (hed) p.e. and Authority Zero will also be supplying a steady dose of eardrum abuse. But things are only getting better. Where were you in 2001 when “Butterfly” was the song you couldn’t escape from, the song your girlfriend (or mistress) swooned over, the song that shot Crazy Town to the top of your playlist. Yes, those dudes are back (minus DJ AM) and it’s been six years since these Crazies have graced a stage. Can you smell the anticipation? Oh, sorry. Left my baggie open.
