Oh, Marta. How much do I love thee? Let me count the ways . . . yes, if you’re one of the metal faithful who set their watch (calendar, actually) to Revolver’s annual “Hottest Chicks in Metal” issue, then you now that Bleeding Through keyboardist Marta (only cool chicks can get away with only using a first name, after all) has made the list on more than one occasion. And with good reason. It’s not just any goth-looking, pasty-faced, ivory-inclined chick who can rock a Dimmu Borgir bikini and make it look sexy. But I digress . . . OK, let’s talk about the band. Bleeding Through, for the uninitiated, sports the very intimidating-looking Brandan Schieppati on lead vocals, Swedish metal-derived riffing and some symphonic, black metal-flavored frills courtesy of the lovely, aforementioned Marta. Since the band kicked Trustkill Records to the curb a couple of years back and ditched the label, the band’s bounced back and started kicking musical ass yet again with a self-titled full-length (Rise Records) it released this past April. The band’s playing Riverside watering hold The Vibe on Saturday so you might want to plan in advance how you’re gonna convince Marta to sign your stained Bleeding Through wristbands. And they’re bootleg. Just try and explain that to her.
