With the kind of gamma-level heat we’ve been dealing with lately, an afternoon spent mere feet away from a skating rink is bound to sound mighty comforting. Thank you, Disney. No, they haven’t carted out good ol‘ Walt from the cryo-chamber and thawed him out (though, that would be sorta cool). I’m talking about Disney on Ice’s “Mickey and Minnie’s Magical Journey,” a phantasmagoric sojourn through Disney’s most remarkable franchises, such as The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Lilo & Stitch and Peter Pan. And if you can wrap your head around the concept of a big-o slab of ice to skate on during a triple-digit weekend, then expand your mind even more so you can digest a jungle adventure in the African Pride Lands with Simba and Nala, a Hawaiian luau and a trip through foggy, cobblestoned London—the settings the Mouse Eared Ones will explore. It’s probably been a while since you had the chance to enjoy some polished choreography and you probably don’t get your butt over to Anaheim as often as you’d like, so I recommend dusting off the family truckster and revisiting those Technicolor yarns from your childhood.
