For Southern California drivers, “traffic” is among the most heinous of four-letter words. For the life of me, I can’t think of many moments more futile, more rage-inducing than sitting in bumper-to-bumper gridlock, white knuckles tightening around the steering wheel as if that’s going to do anything to improve the situation. Luckily (for gearheads, anyway), Ontario’s Citizens Business Bank Arena is hosting the far less egregious Traffic So Cal, a custom car show that’s sure to get your motor running (apologies for that horrific bit of wordplay; I’ve got to replace a lack of automotive knowledge with an unfortunate penchant for puns). Not only will the show feature some of the coolest whips around, tickets are a mere $5 (while kids get in free), plus another $5 for parking. Prizes for various contests include $200 purses for Best Car, Best Truck, Club Participation and apparently countless others (the flyer confidently claims “there are too many categories to put [on it]”). There’s no doubt that the event will make waves in the custom car subculture, as coverage will be provided by the big’uns of custom car media; Lowrider Magazine, Impalas Magazine, you name it. On this Sunday afternoon, it might not be so bad to be sitting in Traffic.
