JOE

He may have one name, but he surely isn’t your average Joe (yes, we get paid by the pun over here). In fact, Joe’s racked up some serious nods, including several Grammy nominations and a catalog of commercial R&B albums dating back to the early ’90s. Opening is the slightly more descriptively named Jon B.

Fri, 8PM. $45-$79. Fox Performing Arts Center, 3801 Mission Inn Ave., Riverside, (951) 779-9800; www.foxriversidelive.com.

>> Sat/ 2/12

SNOOP DOGG

A Cali boy born and bred, Snoop Dogg returns to SoCal on his Get Wet Tour 2011, blazing (heh, heh) a trail through Pomona’s Arts Colony when he hits the Fox Theater. With special guest Pilot, Snoop is sure to spread some positive vibes. It ain’t nuthin‘ but a G thang.

Sat, Feb. 12, 8PM. The Fox Theater Pomona, 301 S. Garey Ave., Pomona; www.foxpomona.com. Tickets start at $32.50.

>> Sun/ 2/13

ZAPP

The funksters behind “More Bounce to the Ounce” are gonna get booties shakin‘ once more as Zapp kicks off this Old School Legends series of shows in downtown Riverside. And it’s way old school with Klymaxx, Mark Adam Wood Jr. of Lakeside and Brenton Wood rounding out the other shows that run through March 26.

Old School Legends Concert Series: Zapp at the Mission Tobacco Lounge, 3630 University Ave., Riverside, (951) 682-4427; www.purplepass.com/oldschool.

>> Mon/ 2/14

AL B. SURE!

Gotta love that exclamation point, as this chart-topping R&B singer’s romantic cuts can also be had with a dose of enthusiasm. Sure!’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Quincy Jones, Diana Ross and David Bowie, and he’ll bring his New Jack Swing during these intimate Valentine’s Day shows.

Mon, 7PM & 9PM. $55-$100. Layaleena, 1276 W. 7th St., Upland, (909) 949-0202; www.blwincorporated.com.

>> Tues/ 2/15

OBSCURANTIST

A group art show featuring the creations of recent visual arts graduates at Cal State San Bernardino. Curated by presenting artist Celeste Gamboa, the exhibit features paintings and photography, focusing on the obscurity and ambiguity in the works by Arturo Loza, Katie Grip, Jessie Zylstra, Michelle Fernandez, Thomas Osekowsky, Timothy Dickson, Amber Robbins, Gabriel Gamboa and Ruby Gamboa.

Thru Feb. 26. Kaos Salon, 345 Pearl Ave. #110, Redlands, (909) 798-2192.

>>Wed/ 2/16

ALLISON SATTINGER & MATT COLEMAN

No, this ain’t an encore performance: Truth is that we’re so wildly smitten with Matt Coleman’s songs that we jumped the gun last week (via little fault of ours). But this week, we’ve been informed that he’ll definitely be playing alongside San Jose-based singer/songwriter Allison Sattinger for this don’t-miss collaboration. Roger that.

Wed, 7:15PM. $5-$10. The Performance Loft, 345 5th St., Redlands, (909) 748-6262; www.performanceloft.org.

>> Thurs/ 2/17

SAVAGE REPUBLIC, DUDE MIRROR

This four-band gig benefits local artist Kara Engel’s battle with breast cancer, and features the always-amazing Savage Republic, rockers Dude Mirror, plus a pair of our faves, Wckr Spgt and the Desperation Squad. There’ll also be a silent art auction to help this important cause. Show your support!

Thurs, Feb. 17, 9PM. $20. Hip Kitty Jazz & Fondue, 502 W. 1st St., Claremont, (909) 447-6700; www.hipkittyjazz.com.
