Claremont Village’s Blues and Brews
By: Lynn Lieu
Downtown Claremont boasts a number of retailers and restaurants for all ages. The area is known to college students and mothers. It hosts family nights and acts as a stomping ground for students having a night out with friends or a bite to eat in between classes. And there’s always some kind of music playing whether it’s an indie band at The Press, jazz players at Hip Kitty, a banjo class at the Folk Music Center or just a musician along the sidewalk. On Friday, the downtown area hosts its annual Blues and Brews walk—exactly what it sounds like: a night filled with music and beer. While normally Claremont Village is very family-friendly, this event is open to only those 21 and over. The walk includes over 35 businesses as food and beverage tasting sites with two non-alcoholic sites. Ticketholders may select up to 10 locations at which to taste beer and there will be entertainment located throughout the Village. You officially have a license to drink in public.
