PIPPI LONGSTOCKING

Is she having a good hair day, or a bad day? Well, we suppose it all depends on the kind of adventures that Pippi Longstocking and her associates are getting themselves into. After all, it’s not every day that you’ll find a little girl taking control of her own life’s direction!

Opens Thurs, June 23. Thru July 10. Yucaipa Little Theatre, 12135 California St., Yucaipa, (909) 790-1884; www.yucaipalittletheatre.com.

A DELIGHTFUL QUARANTINE

Can you imagine being stuck in the city of Fontana? (Sorry, no going to Rialto or Etiwanda!) That’s the setting of this original comedy/drama by Mark Dunn, which finds Fontana residents in quarantine. What goes down when folks are all in one spot? And how does that affect relations with one another? Directed by Zaccharin Thibodeau.

Fri, 7:30PM. Center Stage Theatre, 8463 Sierra Ave., Fontana, (909) 429-7469; www.centerstagefontana.com.

RED BULL MANNY MANIA

Red Bull is back with another crazy and zany contest, and this time they are aiding and embedding in the injury of young skaters—God bless Red Bull’s hyper-energized soul! In a series of qualifiers—including this one in Rancho Cucamonga—the company will be recognizing skaters based on their skill and creativity. In other words, the more risk, the higher the reward. Don’t even bother signing up unless you can defy gravity for at least 2.5 minutes while simultaneously hanging upside down 20 feet from the ground—give or take a few inches.

Red Bull Manny Mania at Active Ride Shop, 10399 Foothill Blvd. Suite 104, Rancho Cucamonga, (909)-987-9928; www.redbullusa.com/mannymania. Sat, June 25. Practice noon, competition 2PM.

CINDERELLA

This show’s the Rodgers & Hammerstein-penned Cinderella story you’ve loved with a special twist—instead of the typical three-act performance, the Candlelight’s modified it to become a two-act show. However, all the greatness of this classic fairy tale is totally intact, delivering fun and enjoyment for the entire family. Directed by John LaLonde.

Opens Fri. Thru July 31. Candlelight Pavilion, 455 W. Foothill Blvd., Claremont, (909) 626-1254; www.candlelightpavilion.com

MICHAEL HAGGINS

Seeking a calming, soothing break from what’s been an otherwise hectic Tuesday? Drop by the Lewis Library’s outdoor courtyard for a performance by Southern California-based musician Michael Haggins, who plays a host of contemporary jazz cuts. The bassist/vocalist’s music has been heard in popular film and TV shows, and he recently released a single dubbed “In Your Lifetime.”

TWISTED SELVES

Contortionists are usually pretty good reconfiguring the human body into various forms. But this exhibit presents the work of contemporary artists who “depict the human figure in altered, unexpected and disorienting ways” through a series of creations, including work from Aimee Beaubien, Jeanne Dunning, Wangechi Mutu, Marco Rios, Julie Shafer and Carrie Yury.

Thru Aug. 27. UCR/California Museum of Photography, 3824 Main St., Riverside, (951) 827-4787; www.cmp.ucr.edu.
