The 7 Day Stretch

Thurs/ 6/16
PAUL JUSTIN & THE SALOONATIXX
Our country-lovin‘ local Paul Justin and his backing band, best known as the Saloonatixx (hey, they definitely get bonus points for that name), are making another visit to the Brandin‘ Iron this weekend, giving San Berdoo three nights of country fun. Time to get in those line-dancin‘ boots, my friends.
Thurs, June 16-Sat, 8PM. Brandin’ Iron, 320 S. E St., San Bernardino, (909) 888-7388; www.brandinironsaloon.com.
Fri/ 6/17
PETER MURPHY
Though he’s well known for being the golden baritone voice hailing from the pioneering Goth-rock band Bauhaus, Peter Murphy’s embarked on quite the comprehensive solo career over the past quarter century. He’s now releasing his ninth solo effort, the aptly-titled Ninth, and will be in California for a string of special dates throughout the remainder of June.
Fri, 7PM. $20. Pappy & Harriet’s, 53688 Pioneertown Rd., Pioneertown, (760) 365-5956; www.pappyandharriets.com.
>> Saturday/ 6/18
IE FOOD TRUCK FEST
Gourmet food trucks have been gracing the streets of Los Angeles, New York and other big cities for years. But Riverside and San Bernardino banned them. Now for the first time, mobile eateries are coming to the Inland Empire in a full blown festival complete with live music, skateboard and roller derby demos and rolling bars. You might want to invest in some Heelys because everything is on wheels at this fest.
Sat, 11AM-6PM. Citizens Business Bank Arena, 4000 E. Ontario Center Pkwy, Ontario, (909) 244-5500; www.IEFoodTruckFest.com.
Sun/ 6/19
POLYHEDRA
You say you like hearing your jazz performed live? And you want your jazz to be played outdoors? And then you want it to be free? Hey, here’s the deal you’ve been seeking, as the College Center in Claremont hosts a live, three-hour, outdoor, free jazz performance every Sunday. Check out the roster of terrific swinging ‘n’ soloing talent.
Sun, 2PM. College Center, 665 E. Foothill Blvd., Claremont; www.jazzatcollegecenter.com.
Mon/ 6/20
COMEDY NIGHT AT THE BRITISH BULLDOG
Monday nights can be a drag, as the work week’s started and the fun of the weekend’s done. But here’s something you can enjoy at least one Monday per month, getting plenty of laughs at the British Bulldog’s comedy night hosted by Mikey McKernan. Now . . . what about those other Monday nights?
Every 3rd Mon, 10PM. British Bulldog Pub, 1667 N. Mountain Ave., Upland, (909) 946-6614; www.facebook.com/mikeymckernan.
Tues/ 6/21
EXCITING SCIENCE
Unfortunately, our science education was something we’d rather forget. All that memorization and experimentation was stuff that we despised. But that type of science learning’s totally changed thanks to Exciting Science, in which participating in science is fun and, thankfully entertaining, too. Oh, if only our grade school science classes were like this.
Tues, 6:30PM. Steelworkers Auditorium, Lewis Library and Technology Center, 8437 Sierra Ave., Fontana, (909) 428-8816; www.fontanarecreation.org.
Wed/ 6/22
TANGO KILO
Self-described as “organic, original American retro rock,” Victorville-based Tango Kilo’s a one-time IE Weekly Band of the Week and they’re bringing their guitar-charged jams to the Lake Alice Trading Company for this mid-week, no-cover-charge gig. If solid, classic songwriting and the sweet sound of strummed electrics perks the ears, here’s one for the consideration list.
Wed, 9PM. Lake Alice Trading Co., 3616 University Ave., Riverside, (951) 686-7343; www.lakealicetradingco.com.
