TED QUINN’S OPEN MIC NIGHT

One of the fun things about an open mic night is that you’ll never know exactly what to expect when various assortments of folks with a wide range of talents and capabilities hit the stage. So, we’re thinkin‘ that a night of surprises at Pappy & Harriet’s is rather likely. Hosted by Ted Quinn.

THEM NOVUS

We’ve called their music “slinky, sophisticated, sparkling” and we were totally serious—MoVal’s Them Novus is a polished ensemble to say the least, mixing rock, pop and a few other outside influences from yesterday and today into one substantial, somethin‘-for-everyone set. The group’s repertoire includes both cover tunes and originals, making for a rather versatile local show.

Tues, 7:30PM. Time In A Bottle, 344 Orange St., Redlands, (909) 307-9463; www.timeinabottlewine.com.

THE PAPER CROWNS

It wasn’t too long ago when we last featured The Paper Crowns in our pages (just a couple months ago, actually), but this indie-folk-blues team are well worth the additional coverage. Founded and fronted by Nicole Pond and Spiro Nicolopoulos, there’s now a full band behind these wonderful songwriters (and their equally well-crafted songs).

Wed, 10:30PM. The Vault Martini Bar, 14 E. Vine St., Redlands, (909) 798-2399; www.myspace.com/thevaultmartinibar.

WILL FERRELL’S KINDA HUMOROUS COMEDY SHOW

And he’s bringing it all to Pechanga in his Kinda Humorous Comedy Show with Sarah Silverman, BJ Novak, Sean Kant and more. Even better, the proceeds will benefit Cancer for College, an organization which raises funds for children who have survived cancer and are headed for college.
