Atlases and battles are learned in history classes, but these guys teach it much better. Battles, an experimental rock band from New York City comprising of Ian Williams,
John Stanier and Dave Konopka, has recently released its newest album Gloss Drop featuring Gary Numan, Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead) and Yamantaka Eye (The Boredoms). Even better, its first single “Atlas” was voted “Best Single of the Week” by NME and used by a number of TV shows, movies and even the video game LittleBigPlanet. The group has performed at All Tomorrow’s Parties in 2007 (and will be curators for it this December), Moers Festival, Berlin Festival and internationally. Hell, the song “The Line” is even featured in the Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack, which automatically makes this group badass. The band brings the battle to us, and we duke it out in the mosh.

Battles at The Glasshouse, 200 W. 2nd St., Pomona, (909) 865-3802; 7PM. $15.
