It’s been touring the world, performing on TV, getting too much radio play time that’s got people struggling to hear what exactly it is the band is singing. But this fairly new indie rock band (formed in 2009 by Mark Foster, Mark Pontius and Cubbie Fink) has had to deal with instant fame as its song “Pumped Up Kicks” attained #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and its newest album Torches took #8 on the Billboard 200. The guys have performed at popular fests such as SXSW, Coachella and Lollapalooza, as well as venues around the world, with events selling out in Paris, Munich, Vancouver, Brussels, etc. Foster the People’s hit song was nominated at the VMAs for Best New Artist and Best Rock Video. Now, with its newest single “Helena Beat” gaining radio air time, the group’s tours continue. All I can say is . . . KROQ made them.
