Minus the Bear

At first glance, you would think that there is a chubby brown bear named Minus shredding on a Fender. But actually, as vocalist/guitarist Jack Snider stated, “A friend of the band had gone on a date and one of us asked him afterwards how the date went. Our friend said, ‘You know that TV show from the ’70s B.J. and The Bear? It was like that—minus the bear.’” Showing a comical nature to its mindset, Minus the Bear doesn’t mess around when it comes to music. The group opened for Soundgarden in 2010, and has recently released its fourth full-length album Omni (produced by Grammy-award winner Joe Chiccarelli) and seventh extended playlist Hold Me Down. Now the band is touring the country as part of its 10-year anniversary. I can’t wait to try out that joke after a date. I think I’ll use the show 16 and Pregnant.

Minus the Bear at The Glass House, 200 W. 2nd St., Pomona, (909) 865-3802; www.theglasshouse.us. 8PM. $25-$28.
