Turkey Trot

Thurs, Nov. 24

The running event known as the Turkey Trot is held annually the morning of Thanksgiving in Claremont. Essentially, participants will attempt to expel those extra calories before dinnertime comes and they say “f**k it, I’m going all out tonight. I can just exercise some more after, right?” Sure, you can. This 5K run is like a half-tour, half-exercise, as the designated route will take attendees through the most scenic of areas in Claremont (how else could you enjoy a tour other than heavy panting and sweating?) including the Claremont colleges, Claremont village and a downhill finish. The event is hosted by the Claremont Sunrise Rotary Club (that explains the 6 a.m. opening) and will benefit Claremont Youth Sports Scholarships. Sometimes, I can’t help but appreciate a fast metabolism.

Turkey Trot at Depot in Claremont Village, 1st Street and Harvard Avenue, Claremont, (909) 621-7718; www.claremontsunriserotary.org. 6AM. Must register online; $15-$30.
