William Winters will be performing with his group William and the Willows alongside Johnny Strat’s one-man band at The Wire in Upland this week, and you can bet your ass there will be tons of folk and acoustic aficionados in attendance. Where Winters draws upon the influences of musicians like Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Mumford and Sons and Laura Marling, Strat follows John Mayer, Coldplay and Jimmy Eat World. Both bands are currently working to produce their first studio record. William and the Willows’ record is set to be released in Spring of 2012. Strat is working on kick starting his budget at Kickstarter.com, and he’s only got ’til the New Year to meet his goal. So, head out and support some up-and-coming bands—you never know how big they’ll get.
