Down To Earth

The Weekly  knows you have a busy life, juggling school, work or play—who’s got time for Earth Day today? Here are a couple of Mother Nature-friendly products that make going green easy as falling off a landfill.

Cave Brothers Farmstead Classics Cheeses
Cave Brothers’ artisan cheeses (don’t get us started on their sweet Mascarpone!) might be super-tasty, but they are also eco-sensitive. The carbon-negative company uses 100-percent sustainable power (thanks, manure-powered bio-digester power generator), conserves water and recycles its cheese packaging. If only the moon were made of this “green” cheese. ($2.50 8-oz., $4.30 16-oz.)

SIGG Water Bottle
Drinking from this water bottle by SIGG will make Mama Planet proud as punch. These durable, lightweight aluminum containers are totally recyclable—and quite beautiful to behold (even New York City’s Museum of Modern Art sells a version of this bottle with its MoMA logo).  ($21.99)

How can your iPhone help the environment? Well, it can when you use the new BioCase from Nite Ize. Made of “compostable elastomer” (a fancy-pants term to describe a type of rubber that breaks down into organic compounds in a few months), this item will snugly protect your iPhone and also (naturally) comes in green. ($34.99-$24.99)

Okabashi Maui Sandals
It’s gettin‘ hot out there and what better way to cool down then to trade in those old socks and sneakers for some new sandals? These simple thong-style sandals from Okabashi are made from 30 percent recycled material and are 100 percent recyclable! Plus, they are machine washable and dishwasher-safe—although, we don’t recommend the latter. ($14.99)
