Let’s face it: aside from a few bands of the time, the ’90s were a dead zone for rock. This quintessential ’90s group, however, is an exception. From ambiguous name to vivacious performances, Goo Goo Dolls is hands-down one of the best rock bands of its time. Since its inception in 1986, the band has seen commercial success in songs such as “Slide,” “Here is Gone” and of course “Iris,” a song with an inexplicable power to bring music-lovers together. The Dolls sold over 10 million albums worldwide, including the triple-platinum Dizzy Up the Girl (1998), the album that propelled John Rzeznik and the band to mainstream success. The group achieved a record 13 Top 10 hits alongside Matchbox Twenty with the release of “Give a Little Bit” and “Before It’s Too Late.” The band’s newest album Something for the Rest of Us (2010) was released to mixed reviews, but who cares? The old hits are eternal. In fact, “Iris” hit  number 3 on the Top 40 in the UK in September 2011. Also, props to those that can sing the chorus of that song.

At San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino, 777 San Manuel Blvd., Highland, (909) 864-5050; 6:30PM. $40-$50.
