The Paid Dues Festival is much like Beyond Wonderland; relatively new and the artists will make you think, who’s that? They’re like the artists that, if you asked your indie-music friend what music she listens to, she responds with, “You’ve probably never heard of them . . .” But that’s what Paid Dues is all about: bringing indie-hip hop artists, big and small, together on stage in a mix of headline-worthy talent like Wu-Tang Clan and Living Legends, icons like DJ Quik and underground slingers like Psalm One. This year will feature artists such as Wu Tang, Odd Future, Mac Miller, Three-6 Mafia and a handful of other artists. Paid Dues, hosted and sponsored by Guerilla Union at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, is in the same boat as Cypress Hill Smokeout and Rock the Bells, so if you enjoy those festivals, Paid Dues isn’t far off the grid. The event will also be coordinating with Habitat for Humanity where attendees may purchase a specialty ticket that will benefit the organization in eliminating substandard housing.

Paid Dues Independent Hip Hop Festival at NOS Events Center, 689 S. E St., San Bernardino, (877) 435-9849; 12pm. $76-$176.
