This year’s Opening Night Gala will be held at the Barbara and Art Culver Center of the Arts and celebrates both celebrity guests and judges including Randy McLaughlin. Who’s that, you ask? Only one of the leading designers in film! McLaughlin and Jerry Skeels formed JERAN Design, a leader in creating costumes and gowns for motion pictures, stage and television in the ’80s and ’90s. Throughout their careers, the pair received two EMMY nominations for best design and numerous awards as inspiring emerging designers. One of the most memorable pieces by JERAN Design is the Hollywood Graffiti Gown, a stunning floor-length German-velvet couture gown with over 350 hand-beaded signatures from leading Hollywood ladies. The gown was a philanthropic project for AIDS fundraising. McLaughlin will be honored by the Riverside International Film Festival with a lifetime achievement award. The event kicks off 10 days of international film screenings at the Fox Performing Arts Center and Regal Theaters in the Riverside Plaza.
