Jamaican-inspired reggae band The Lions will kick off the spring 2012 season at The Barn at UC Riverside, appearing alongside Stones Throw Records founder and master DJ Peanut Butter Wolf. Described by one critic as having “an outstandingly distilled urban sound that mines dub reggae in a vintage yet completely fresh way by tastefully blending it with soul and funk,” the Lions draw on rhythms and sounds from South America and Africa to generate their unique blend of reggae. You might want to bring a whip and a chair, because these lions are ready to roar. Wasn’t that a line in some Prince song from the ’80s? General admission is $15. Tickets can be purchased at the UCR Theater Ticket Office or through Ticketmaster. All ages are welcome.

The Barn at UCR, 900 University Ave., (951) 827-2276; rside.ucr.edu/barnseries. Parking available in Lot 6. 7:30pm.
