Though he started out as the son of migrant farm workers in Texas, Tomas Rivera ended up becoming a lauded Chicano poet, author and educator–and he was the first Mexican-American to be a chancellor for the UC system, specifically at UC Riverside (1979-1984). Though he passed away at his Fontana home in 1984, his legacy lives on. On April 25, the Tomas Rivera Conference will present “An Evening with Sandra Cisneros” at UC Riverside.
Stay tuned tomorrow for more about the Rivera Conference and Cisneros.
