One week and hundreds of films can only mean one thing: it’s time for the 23rd Palm Springs International Short Film Festival. In multiple different genres, artistic visions and all sorts of creative videos you can imagine (and some you can’t) will be numerous local and foreign short films ranging from four to 30 minutes. Don’t focus all of your time on sitting down in a darkened room all day because The Ace Hotel is spicing up each night of the film fest with an after party called “Afterfest.” Call it an extra bit of social spice to an evening of theatre-couch potato. Like-minded cinephiles can either enjoy listening to a few live artists perform or grab a late night meal at King’s Highway, the king of diners that can beat Denny’s Restaurant any day. The Ace has it all, even a few of their own selected film screenings and surprises to keep you entertained throughout each night of the film fest. Tuesday night will seek to keep the comedy going from the screenings you watched earlier featuring “Ace Karaoke with Keisha.” If you decide to make a vacation out of this, Ace is offering a special code for room purchase that will net you two passes for the festival, $25 credit for King’s Highway (delicious!) and $25 towards their renowned spa. You might love the Ace but rest assured that after a few nights of this, the Ace will love you right back.
The Ace Hotel, 701 E Palm Canyon Dr., Palm Springs, (760) 325-9900; www.acehotel.com. 9pm. Afterfest thru June 26.
