Here we’ve got comedy neighbors in LA, we have the Flapper’s Comedy in Claremont and prestigious performances over at the Ontario Improv but best of all, we’ve got headliners over at Pechanga with Russell Peters. Since his entrance into comedy back in 1989, Peters has been a mixed character of sorts. While he can pull a pretty good Indian accent off (his parents both hail from India) he’s also Canadian and you can tell he loves it. The master comedian is now half-way through his “Notorious 2012 World Tour” which includes thirteen shows in various Canadian provinces (FYI there are 10 provinces, making that at least one show in every state). However focused his home country might be on the tour, he’s making a single short stop in Temecula. Yes, you should feel special. The only other show was in San Francisco. Being Indian and Canadian allows Peters to embrace his minority status with personal experiences. Everyone loves laughing at “the other guy” through Peters’ variety of accents as he imitates the most popularized stereotypes. Peters has found a good way to alleviate the racial tension and make fun of everyone instead.
Pechanga Resort And Casino, 45000 Pechanga Pkwy., Temecula, (951) 693-1819; www.pechanga.com. $55-$75. 7pm & 9:30pm.
