Attention all you survivalist and doomsday types out there: avoid Menifee. Yup, its City Council recently voted to extend a moratorium on underground bunkers, according to The Press-Enterprise
. This became an issue after city officials realized Menifee’s zoning code makes no mention of bunker construction. Sure, some people are gonna build them anyways (Oh you, preppers, you crazy guys
!), but city officials just want to make sure everything is hunky dory in Bunkerville. “This lack of documentation may lead to inappropriate location within a property or substandard construction of such facilities, which in turn could be considered a threat to public health, safety and welfare if there are structure failures,” a stuffed-shirt city report states. But Councilman Wallace Edgerton seems to be on the pro-bunker side of the issue: “If somebody wants to build a bunker against an invasion of the Martians, I don’t think it’s wise, but I think he has the right.” Cue up the Doomsday Preppers
theme song . . .
