All things considered, California isn’t really a rustic state. True, you can still find the occasional farm here and there but it’s difficult to capture that old feel of the West long forgotten. If you are still yearning for that kind of world, then you may have a rare chance of recapturing it. The Mill Creek Boys will be performing at The Old School House at Oak Glen to celebrate the annual “Mountain Music Day.” The Mill Creek Boys have been a consistent favorite of the festival. Why shouldn’t they be? The day is dedicated to the sweet sounds of days gone by, with bands playing mountain dulcimers, autoharps, banjoes and more to evoke that mountain style. Stay for the workshops and you could learn how to play the spoons! The Boys’ sound is not one to miss but you’ll also get a taste of groups like Grits and Grady, Kattywompus and the South Coast Kinfolk. Turn your car into a time machine and drive up to Oak Glen, the experience is bound to be nothing short of unforgettable.

The Old School House, 11911 S. Oak Glen Rd., Oak Glen, (909) 987-5701; www.rileysfarm.com. 11am-5pm. $8 donation requested.
