Aside from the comical musical numbers by Neil Patrick Harris and Hugh Jackman at the Tony Awards last year, one of the best performances was the performance of a famous number from the hit musical Anything Goes featuring Sutton Foster. Belting a powerful voice, dancing and top-notch choreography with the rest of the Anything Goes theater company more than honors the era of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Foster seems to be the leading lady of theater that just won’t quit. This multi-talented prima donna does it all; tap dance, choreography in groups, but most importantly, she’s got a powerful singing voice which won her two Tony awards for her Broadway roles in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Anything Goes. She has also appeared in numerous Broadway roles such as Little Women, Young Frankenstein and Shrek, the Musical. More recently, Foster appeared as the leading role of an ex-showgirl turned ballet teacher in ABC Family’s series Bunheads, leaving her more than qualified to celebrate the Annenberg Theater’s opening season. This won’t be just a repeat performance of her past theatrical shows, it’s a showcase of this young star’s fruitful accomplishments in show business. And for this fundraiser and opening season show, you might get a glimpse of something new or a reprise of something amazing.
