You may know him from the new TBS hit show Sullivan & Son, a comedy about a corporate attorney Steve Sullivan (played by Steve Byrne) who leaves New York in search for a more fulfilling life taking over his father’s bar. While the constant quarrel over for “who’s boss” between Sullivan and his mom is portrayed throughout the half-hour show, Byrne proved his real life “boss-ness” when the series first season averaged 2.5 million viewers. A supporter of the U.S. military, Byrne headlined USO tours where he opened for Colin Quinn and Drew Carey. He also the featured comedian on the NBC series The Real Wedding Crashers and The Tonight Show. Byrne also had one-hour specials on Comedy Central titled The Byrne Identity and Steve Byrne’s Happy Hour, where he reveals that he had always wanted, but never could, be a magician or male cheerleader—it’s a good thing he didn’t follow that career path. Choosing the standup comic path instead, Byrne has proved to come a long way from being a show-opener to becoming a show-stopper. Performing for sold-out crowds across the world, it’s about time Byrne brings his high-energy humor to the IE. Don’t forget to pack a few tissues, you’ll need them for the tears of hysteria that you’ll be shedding. (Yensil Chung)
