Nunset Boulevard

It’s time to throw up your hands and scream hallelujah, because Cindy Williams from Laverne & Shirley is starring as Mother Superior in Nunset Boulevard: The Nunsense Hollywood Bowl Show—a fantastically entertaining musical comedy. While, the Catholic Church may be looking forward to seeing its name in the headlines for once, don’t expect a boring spoof on nuns living the holy life—Nunset Boulevard is about a group of sisters who were invited to perform at what they believed to be the Hollywood Bowl (but is actually a Hollywood bowling alley.) They make the best out of this disappointment once they find out there is a screen test for a Hollywood movie about a TV star turned nun—this could be their big break! Between hilarious one-liners and clever tunes you’re sure to have a heavenly time. They even go through some silly costume changes without removing their traditional black and white nun garb—dressed as beautiful Hollywood blondes, glittering bowling pins and even an angel and a devil. Throughout the performance they successfully maintain a level of holy modesty while singing at the top of their lungs—anticipating their 15 minutes of Hollywood fame. Don’t miss what is probably your one and only opportunity to witness nuns singing, dancing and having a good time—outside of Sunday Mass.

Fox Performing Arts Center, 3801 Mission Inn Ave., Riverside (951) 779-9800; 8pm. $30-80.
