Write Our World (WOW) is a rising star in the Inland Empire music scene. Approaching exposure in a contemporary way, WOW tackled web-based popularity first, and now is conquering the live performance scene in the IE. Having just opened for Life Down Here and still building a strong fan-base with a steady stream of YouTube videos and constant SoundCloud updates, WOW earns their success with a unique sound. WOW blends a younger-sounding Paramore-style with a stage presence of Heart on steroids. The Weekly was able to talk to the band in their downtime and gain some insight on WOW.
How would you describe your music?
In short, Alternative Rock. We mix dark and ethereal elements with raw emotions to tell real stories within a Grimm’s-fairytales-style sound.
You’re amassing a huge online presence. Do you think this helps or hinders productivity?
Definitely helps. It pushes us to continue creating and playing shows in order to keep offering fans new material and opportunities to come see us. Without having an online presence we would feel less pressure to write more songs or get all the details hammered out. It’s great getting to interact with new people, online or in person.
Any live performances on the horizon?
We do have two shows coming up, for sure. One this Friday (3/1) at Characters in Pomona, another on the 16that Aladdin Jr. 2 in Pomona. We also have one on April 12th in Riverside at Morgan’s Tavern.
What’s the future look like for WOW?
Forward and Upward hopefully. We will be hitting the studio this year and getting at least two more songs recorded. We’ve also been discussing getting some music videos done and putting out a nicely packaged EP containing the current songs and the new ones. All of that is still up in the air. We will definitely be continuing to play as many shows as we can and meeting all of your wonderful faces!
