Palm Springs Modernism Week

Posted February 14, 2013 in

Thurs, Feb. 14-Sun, Feb. 24

Palm Springs is celebrating itself once again just in time for Valentine’s Day. Start off mid-February right by joining the city in its celebration of all the classic ‘40s-‘60s modernist designs that can be found all around town. Imagine 10 days filled to the brim with nonstop events that examine the artistic history of Palm Springs while creating a fun and enjoyable environment for all involved. All the proceeds will go toward education and public awareness via The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation. Enjoy plenty of tours throughout the scenic houses that embody the style and feel of Modernism, a style that rejects realism and tradition and began a form that evertually brought us skyscrapers, corrugated rooflines and pop-art. See the Marrakesh County Club showcase all of its finest and best designs that epitomize the look. Talk with art collectors and have a drink while viewing exhibitions of decorative furniture and stunning images. This is the must-attend party for anyone who loves classic mid-20th century art, anyone getting into art or anyone that wants to embrace the history of Palm Springs.
