Cupcakes Galore
By Ashley Bennett
There are so many cupcake shops out here. More than you can even imagine. Some might argue that there are too many. I can’t refute the fact that there are a ton of them once you start paying attention. With shows like Cupcake Wars getting people to think that anyone can make a cute little pastry, now everyone has a shop.
But the Cupcake Shack (sister store to The Cupcake Place in Riverside) doesn’t need to be on a baking show to prove that its cupcakes are top notch. So after a dinner at any of the local downtown Pomona diners, make dessert a sweet affair.

These moist, bready delights each have a dedicate burst of individuality. The Red Velvet cupcake is a rich favorite, topped with frosting and more red velvet in crumbled form. The Oreo is nothing less than a sweetly satisfying chocolate cupcake with a crown of frosting and Oreo dust leading up to half of an Oreo. The recipe is as follows: a giant cupcake, topped with ample amounts of frosting and the “cherry” which in this case varies from sprinkles to banana slices (even bacon). The menu changes daily too, with an average of twelve flavors available per day. One day you’ll be invited to mouth water over choices like Smores and the next it’s all about Maple Bacon.
You’ll also find cakes and cute little cake pops here but if anything, make sure you ask about the elusive but simple chocolate chip cookies. They’re so popular that even I didn’t get to try one because of its constant habit of selling out.

Bacon and Oreo cupcakes? Hmmm. Only in America.
Kate,
Yes, only in America. Come by and say hey.
Bacon & Oreos…hmmm. I’ll have to test that one out.
