Bowl of Heaven
By Ashley Bennett
Anything labeled as a bowl of “heaven” better be pretty damn fantastic. Fortunately for the eatery called Bowl of Heaven, they’ve created various Acai (don’t look silly; it’s pronounced ah-sigh-ee) ice cream bowls that make for a glorious (and naturally sweet) cold treat.
When I stopped by I tried the Red-Zinger. This acai creation adds a handful of interesting ingredients to the mix, which include coconut milk, lime, fresh ginger (I know, right? It’s an unpredictable ingredient but the taste is subtle), raspberries, blueberries, pineapple and a G3 fruit blend—but it’s the toppings that really become the eye catcher. The bowl glitters with shreds of dark Belgian chocolate, ample crunchy granola, fresh raspberries and tiny, gentle beads of sweet honey that come straight from Cal Poly Pomona’s own beehives. It’s a complex but sweet treat, extremely filling to boot and has enough healthy stuff to take place of a meal.
The owner of this spot lost a ton of weight by choosing to eat healthy, a la acai and fruit bowls, so get up chubby. It’s time to start that healthy lifestyle right freakin’ now.
