In a small alcove between First Street and Indian Hill Boulevard is this tiny shop that caters strictly to pies. Delicious, large and small, sweet and savory, pies. It goes without saying that “like” isn’t a strong enough word to express my affection for the cute, mini-pies and the flavor they behold. Pies influenced by fruits (cherry, pear, berries etc.), vegetables (sweet potato) and meat (shepherd’s pie, meatloaf, chicken pot pie).
The seemingly simple Caramel Apple Crunch 4 oz. “jelly jar” pie, for instance, is made up of semi-crunchy apple bits, a thin caramel sauce and plenty of brown sugar to go around. I warmed this one up at home and the once solid pie just melted on top of itself into a gooey, sweet mess.
I personally enjoyed the Triple Berry pie as well, lightly decorated with the frills of cream and a berry which hid the encased crimson-pink berry blend within. It’s the perfect mix between semi-sweet and mildly tart.
I’m predicting a trend here; one that will take down the cupcake kingdom and bring the world of desserts into a whole new world of sweet, piping pies.
