Up and coming rock trio Crater Creator is a powerful force to be on the lookout for. The dedicated work ethic and aggressive, go-get-em attitude exhibited by the three rock stars that make up Crater Creator is a commendable feature, accompanied by their obvious talents. With a passion for music and a hunger for success, these three Pomona natives are riding the waves to notoriety, one day at a time.
How did Crater Creator get together?
Crater Creator was started by Alberto Muños Jr. as a song-writing project with hopes of becoming a band project sometime in the near future. As time went by, it started to pick up the missing pieces: 2009 marked the year Jesus Perez Jr. joined with drums, and in 2010, Louis Aguilar joined with his bass.
What’s the story behind your name?
After getting together with a couple of friends to play a one-time show as a jam band, the name “Crater Creator” was thrown around for the band. The rest of the band did not like it but Albert liked the way it rolled out the tongue so much that he decided to put it in his pocket for a future project of his.
How would you describe your music to someone who’s never heard it before?
Crater Creator is a collection of influences. Albert brings the sound of Bob Dylan into his vocals. Jesus incorporates his love for Daft Punk into his drumming. Louis embodies the sound of Earth, Wind and Fire in his bass line. Wrapped up with our overall love for rock, we blend our own personal influences together to create a personal sound for Crater Creator. Or to simply put it, melodic noise.
What is a live performance like from Crater Creator?
A live performance by Crater Creator is full of energy, a lot of dancing, sing-alongs and shirtless men. We get pretty sweaty on stage and it gets pretty hot. We find shirts to be useless in rock and roll. We also get the crowd involved. They feed off our hairy chests and we feed off of their energy—it’s the perfect balance.
What other IE bands should we keep our eye on?
Some IE bands to keep your eyes open for are: Awukii, Salinger, Speeks Geaks, Black Jesus and the Experimentalist and the Prehistoric.
