From the minds of renowned composer Stephen Sondheim and celebrated playwright Hugh Wheeler, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street graces the local stage. The eight-time Tony award-winning Best Musical has caused audiences from every corner of the world to squirm with unease and applaud in an uproar. A wonderfully crafted theatrical ensemble quite capable of making you laugh as you cringe, the story is as entertaining as Todd’s vendetta is dark. As a matter of fact, just wait till he’s in cahoots with the lady from the pie shop—talk about a plot twist! If you’re really up for an evening of jarring thrills, make way to Claremont’s Candlelight Pavilion, presenting a month long opportunity to see the decorated musical in the flesh. While we’re on the topic of “flesh,” be sure to bring an appetite along while you watch Todd in action. Not just in preparation of getting a taste of the quirky cadences, but because dinner is also included in the ticket price of course. So show up early to confirm a great seat. We assure you, you’re going to want a good view of this cringe-worthy musical thriller.
