As it turns out, Riverside has a pretty decent Farmers Market. Some of what the weekly market offers are plenty of organic food keep eatin’ healthy (it is almost 2014, you know. Time to jump on those New Years resolutions). There are plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, but if you seek bread then you might be lucky enough to stumble upon the Old Town Bakery Co.’s booth.
Based in Rancho, this bakery is well-known for its fresh sourdough bread. The bread they sell are all non-preservative, non-GMO and contain all-natural ingredients. Just as the holidays were wrapping up, I snagged a few of their holiday goods.
Their Christmas Brownie Bites are meticulously decorated with plenty of festive sprinkles that covered the top of a moist but firm dessert. The only downside to these tiny morsels is the fact that with so many to eat, it’s difficult to gauge how many you’ve consumed until they’re already gone.
Or try the Cinnamon Pull Apart bread, topped with a deliciously sweet cinnamon frosting. After bringing this home, I barely got to eat any of it, as my family devoured it in a day.
It’s a simple bakery with amazing flavor, and they make their presence well known at a local market on every day of the week. Whether you’re in the neighborhood at the bakery’s storefront or you stumble across their wares at a local farmers market, there are plenty of goodies to check out.
