Spending his early years living in Wisconsin, and then moving to San Bernardino where he graduated from high school, Stevie Dub has been somewhat of a nomad—now residing in beautiful Riverside. What started out as a childhood nickname has turned into his alter ego performer—Stevie Dub. Slanging beats and spitting sick rhymes, this hot young hip-hop guru advises that his lyrics are for the faint of heart. The words off his new album My Black Side are unfiltered, telling real life tales of situations and struggles, all littered with language that warns parents to be advised. So, if you’re ready for some real in your face hip-hop, you can check him out live this Sunday or tune into Stevie Dub’s YouTube Page—his music videos will open you to a whole new world of music you didn’t even know existed in the Inland Empire.
How do you describe your music?
Stevie Dub: My sound is a combination of in your face lyrics intertwined with life stories and hard knocking instrumentals to back the words up. All of my music stems off of real life situations or scenarios.
Tell me about your song writing process.
Stevie Dub: My song writing process really depends on the mood I’m in at the time. If I’m in a bad mood or something is bothering me, most likely I’ll find a beat that suits that mood or feel and write accordingly. I usually start by writing my chorus because that’s the center of the song and where the topic comes from. I also try to change my flow often and use different tones so the song doesn’t sound the same all throughout the record.
What can fans expect from a live performance?
Stevie Dub: ENERGY!! I get really excited before every performance and tend to be jumping all over the stage, so expect a great show.
Is there anything else you’d like us to know?
